Chicago Pushes for Immigration Reform

In Chicago, it has been reported that 7 members of the state's congressional delegation are siding with immigration rights activists. Activists are asking for President Barack Obama to reform immigration this year.
Reports indicate that 3 U.S. Representatives (Luis Gutierrez, Mike Quigley and Danny Davis) have signed a letter, which they sent to the President. In the letter, the Representatives stated that laws need to be passed that keep immigrant families together, that protect immigrant workers and that protect opportunities for immigrants throughout the country. The letter has been circulating around the U.S. House of Representatives and was also signed by Bobby Rush, Jan Schakowsky, Jesse Jackson Jr. and Phil Hare.
Today, their announcement was released to the public. Their letter mimics earlier calls from activist groups who have been asking for immigration reform and have yet to see a reform bill passed by the government. The activist groups include the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
At this time, President Obama has offered little specifics on immigration reform and has yet to propose solutions on this contested issue.
