A Harvard graduate who was facing deportation to the Philippines has reportedly been granted a one-year reprieve. As of now, Mark Ferales has been released from detention. He was originally brought to the U.S. on a travel visa after his father was shot by hit men. His family was in the process of seeking political asylum, but his father died in 2006 and Ferales was left without a legal status. Now, Rep. Brad Sherman intervened in the matter and asked that the action be deferred pending an appeal on the case.
