Firms Using H-1B Visa Holders for Work
Posted on Feb 26, 2010 10:30am PST
It has been found that many employers are sponsoring H-1B visa holders to have them fill temporary posts, but not to become full-time US residents. As a result, companies are using temporary employment to take advantage of cheaper guest-work labor. An H-1B visa allows for a worker to work in the US for six years and can apply for permanent residency during any of those years. Another possible problem with this is that H-1B workers can switch jobs in very limited circumstances, but can have their visas revoked at any time.
