The American Visa Bureau has reported that Indian nationals who wish to obtain a U.S. visa must now fill out a new online form.
With the demand for American visas rising in India, it is taking longer and longer for officials at the U.S. Embassy to process all the applications. Since 2006, the demand for American visas in India has increased by 58%.
Starting January 19, DS-160 form will be made available online for Indian citizens wishing to obtain a non-immigrant visa. The American Embassy in India announced that this form is now a mandatory part of the visa application process.
The form is expected to cut processing delays, allowing applications to be pre-processed and pre-screened before the applicant comes in for an interview.
According to the American Visa Bureau, India is in the top ten of visitors coming to the United States.
