A Senate committee has killed a bill that would have tightened the state's immigration policies in Idaho. Senate Bill 1303 would have required that employers use the federal E-Verify program and denied public benefits for undocumented immigrants. However, the bill was defeated after more than three hours of debate, sending the bill to the Senate's amending order where changes can be made to the bill.
