Interpreter Serving in Iraq Becomes U.S. Citizen

A man who has been a contract interpreter for the top American military commanders in Iraq has finally been sworn in as a U.S. citizen after a 10-year delay. The interpreter has been waiting since 2002 for a final decision about his citizenship, a process that should have take about six months. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services did not explain the reasons for the delay.
