A House bill would reportedly require that state contractors in North Carolina to check on their employee's citizenship status. According to reports, the new law would require anyone contracting or subcontracting with a state agency to use the federal program that checks the citizenship status of newly hired employees. The system is already in use, but it would be extended to other businesses with this new law.
