Ahmad Moustafa Mahmoud has been granted citizenship in the U.S. after being an American soldier for eight years. His family is originally from Egypt, but he had his citizenship expedited after President George W. Bush ordered in 2002 for immigrants who were in the army to be allowed quicker citizenship. He came from Cairo to Houston when he was 11 as his father came to the U.S. on a religious worker visa.
